Wow! What a fantastic night last night turned out to be. I had the privilege of being invited to the Brit Awards on behalf of the IFPI (International Federation of the Phonographic Industry). This is an organisation that I have been working with over the last year on the issues of copyright and online distribution of music. It was a real treat to be invited by them to join in the celebration of British music.
And what a night it was, from Coldplay’s opening performance to Blur who closed the show after receiving an award for their outstanding contribution to music. But the show stopper for me was Adele, who won awards for best British album of the year and best British female artist. She gave a fantastic performance – for me it was the performance of the night!
It was a pity that Adele’s speech was cut short just as she was telling the crowd how proud she was to be British and to be part of and celebrate the British music scene, I echo that sentiment. And as for last night it was wonderful to help celebrate British music, at its best.
