Now you would have thought that after contacting his friend Damien Green and trying to clear him whilst there was a Metropolitan Police inquiry, that Boris Johnson would be paying more attention to doing his job as Mayor of Lonndon properly. Yet in his statement yesterday he deliberately avoids accurately describing the reports findings. Key phrase for me is
“I will now reflect on suggestions for the future on how to deal with extraordinary situations when they arise.”
this is Boris’ “translation” of a clear warning to him by the investigator Jonathon Goolden that his behaviour was “extraordinary and unwise”.
That’s not how you apologise or acknowledge error Boris, is this an entry for spin of the year?
More details on this at Tory Troll including the important fact the hearing to finalise judgment takes place next week!
Tory bloggers have jumped in to try and “move on” here, and here. My favourite though is Iain Dale here. Clicking on his blog today the banner heading endorsing quote is the unintentionally ironic:
“Tory but not slavish – the thinking person’s blog.”
from a certain Damien Green MP who caused the whole issue to arise.
Looks like when it comes to Tories screwing up Iain turns a blind eye. Here’s a quote for today Iain
“Slavishly Tory – the Right thinking person’s friend!” – Boris Johnson
You clearly didn’t read the subsequent post which questioned whether the Conservative Party knew how to spell the word ‘opposition’.
You really will have to do better than this, Mary. Reminds me of your campaign in 1987!
