Fringe Meeting on Blogging 3 – Jessica Asato on Integrating Social Media

Jessica Asato ran social media for David Miliband in his Labour Leadership campaign. She is currently Director of the Labour Yes to AV campaign, and is also a Cllr for St George’s Ward in Islington. Here she talks about how social media can be harnessed by politicians when campaigning. My apologies for the shaky camerawork.

It was good to see that there were at least a few glasses of wine left for the speaker’s table after the skin full that seems to have been imbibed by the cameraperson.
Councillor Asato made an interesting point about Nick Clegg when she explained that he gets someone else to make his tweets. One hopes that this person is paid out of LibDem funds not our taxes. Perhaps he would have a better public image if he tweeted himself and got an assistant to take over his busy schedule of meaningless pledge signings.
