He only said that in his personal religious view he considered homesexulaity to be a sin; a sin being an offence against God. He did also state that he would not bring his Roman Catholic beliefs into any judgements he would make for the EU.
Surely, even the institutions of the EU can see the difference; even they are not, as far as I know, ambitous enough to regulate against sin.
Isn’t President Van Rumpuy a devout Roman Catholic? Perhaps he will share the views of Rocco Buttiglione.
