MY TOP FIVE BLOGS

Rupa Huq

Rupa Huq

Following on from yesterday’s post here are the remaining votes in Eurovision style from 5 to 1.

5. Rupa Huq http://www.rupahuq.co.uk/

A sociologist, Labourite and accidental blogger as she says on her strapline. Modern London life with plenty of politics. Always well referenced and a woman who I hope will be representing Labour in the future.

4. Labour List http://www.labourlist.org/

After a few turbulent times, Alex Smith has lead a fightback and it is a vast resource. I declare an interest as a semi-occasional contributor. Can hit the mark spot on and say unpalatable truths promptly.   Unfortunately, it also publishes some posts which contribute little and maybe diffuse the blog’s impact.  Often the comments divert into avenues that are way off beam of the post due to a generous tolerance of trolls. If you are Labour and not sure you want to blog but want to say things submit it here, there’s every chance your voice will be heard.

3. Tory Troll http://torytroll.blogspot.com/

Adam Bienkov’s rolling reports on the Mayor and the GLA primarily. In passing an honourable mention to the superb blog title Brian Coleman (aka Mr. Toad) has to go! http://colemansgottogo.blogspot.com/ which is often referenced by Adam. If voting on a blog title alone this would be in my top 10! The great thing about Adam is the way he consistently draws attention to Boris’, Brian’s and  others’ consistent inconsistencies. Repeated use of links to show that whenever Boris tries to do his “aw shucks” it is only a chickenfeed line, and that the reality is he is a serial offender.

2. Luke’s Blog http://lukeakehurst.blogspot.com/

The place I go to to see by-election results. How a simple service can be the cornerstone of a blog. Blogging can be addicitive. Luke Akehurst’s blogging despite serious illness and long term hospitalisation is incredible. I do not always agree with him, but he gives a clear view of the right of the Labour Party. A fellow electoral reformer, his debates with those on the left in comments are frequently a model of how those who disagree with each other should tease out those differences.

1. And another thing…. http://www.tomharris.org.uk/

Tom Harris MP’s my number one. Great writing leavened with generous doses of humour. Fencing with comments from Tories, Tom takes no prisoners. I pass on his science fiction dalliance, but like me Tom is loyal to Labour. If more people read this they would understand what a MP does all day and how hard they work.

  1. How very kind of you to honourable mention my blog Mary.

    Many thanks indeed.
