This time in the electoral cycle is always interesting. Having been re-elected, I am now waiting for my Committee places to be finalised. I very much hope to be on the Culture and Education Comittee again and to remain Labour spokesperson on this topic.
It was for this reason I went to an open day at the community arts venue, Redlees Arts and Crafts Stables on Friday. It was as enjoyable as I hoped it would be, being a peaceful and picturesque location on the Twickenham side of Isleworth. Hounslow Council while under Labour control funded the develoment of the stables which make excellent creative space. I almost met Cllr Ruth Cadbury during the evening. If you are reading this, hello Ruth, sorry I missed you.
However, I did meet several of the artists who have studios at Redlees, including:
Stephanie Mutch, who does great ceramics including fun cake-stands, John Carbery, an accomplished artist painting both bright abstracts and graceful still life, Angela Attwood, another potter, Corynna Jeudwine, a talented jewellery maker, Rubbena Aurangzeb-Tariq, skilled in large and striking painting and finally the delightful Monica Boxley with her fantastic bags, dresses and fashion wear.
Thanks to the organisers for an enjoyable evening.
