The “Independent on Sunday” today published their list of ten leading MEPs and yours truly appeared http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/the-european-elections-is-cameron-leading-his-meps-astray-1693501.html I’m naturally very pleased. Since I was tagged as “web-savvy” and this very blog got an hon mensh, it just goes to show the increasing importance of “new media”.

Yesterday was a women’s day, Harrow Labour Women’s Forum following hard on the heels of the Somali women’s event. I always enjoy talking to women’s groups. Yesterday afternoon I was very pleased and honoured to speak at a meeting of Somali women in Harrow at the Harrow East Labour Party premises in Wealdstone. They were a very lively group, full of passion and aspirations for themselves and their community; it was great to meet such a group of women. As you may [...]

Yesterday evening I was fortunate to be invited to a hustings meeting organised by the Muslim Forum of Middlesex. My thanks to Jamil Versi who not only chaired the event but was also one of the main organisers. Before talking about the hustings meeting itself, you should know that the Conservatives did not turn up. [...]

One of the things that I am proud the European Parliament achieved in the last session was to ban the trading of seal products throughout the European Union. Pictures of the the violent clubbing to death of seals, after which they are skinned alive struck many MEPs as unacceptable behaviour. The Canadian Governor General Michaelle [...]

Treading the streets in Wimbledon, I had a chance to speak to a few constituents on their doorsteps. I did my best to underline the differences between Europe and Westminster and what it will mean if less Labour people are elected as Labour MEPs. It was good to see Christine Bickerstaff again – we were both [...]
