This evening there is a candlelit vigil in Trafalgar Square from 8pm against all hate crime. Do attend if you can, and if you cannot you can observe 2 minutes silence at 9pm. I have been deeply concerned at a time when tolerance is rising, that there has been a rise in homophobic hate crimes. I am pleased that there is a visible way for lesbians and gay men to demonstrate in every community their love. Tomorrow is the second International Same Sex Hand Holding Day (SSHH!). I like this simple positive way of promoting equality which doesn’t require a letter, demonstration or lobby, just doing what comes naturally.
