In the studio doing a soundcheck before broadcast

Yesterday I took part in a panel discussion on Islam Channel TV with representatives from the other Parties standing for election to the European Parliament.

We had a lively debate covering a number of things, concentrating on what the EU does and why it is important to vote in the European elections.

I was particularly pleased to talk about Labour’s record on consumer protection, for example reducing mobile phone charges for calls other EU countries. I was also able to explain how Labout MEPs defended freedom by supporting wearing the hijab in public places, including schools.

I would like to thank the Islam TV channel for the opportunity to appear on this television discussion. I always welcome the opportunity to talk to a wide range of people and I hope those of you who saw the show enjoyed it.
